[PRG] Inspirational Words About Reviews

Black Knight

First Post
Hey everyone!

Phoenix Rising Games has just posted some ispirational words of encouragement to all publishers and freelancers in the gaming fields. It's about reviewers and bad reviews. You can find it here.

However, as the site indicates, it was sent to a few freelancers and publishers late last year, but we don't know who the artist is! Help us find the elusive "Yo Mama" so we can bring quality words of encouragement to everyone!

Very cute.

You know, this is the attitude from Publishers that really really irks me (which I why I had to edit my post. Twice!).

You act like your products are beyond reproach, and you essentially have a license to peddle any sort of garbage you want. Then instead of blaming yourself for a lousy product (or admitting it), you blame the person who points out it's crap.

Certain companies do this all the time, almost throwing tempter tantrums. But it's time better spent actually listening to criticism and improving their products...

Being a freelancer for a bit, I have seen my fair share of unfavorable reviews. I take the "bad" reviews as a compliment, actually. It means that someone is actually going to take the time and effort to give me feedback. Anyone can be a "yes" man. And I do read them for where I have an area to expand on or improve myself and the products I create.

However, the point of the comic is to point out bad reviewers. These people are the ones that type up their great sonnet of a review in l33t speak or look likes a mentally-deficient porcine walked on a computer keyboard. I find those to be utterly excusable. It's those reviews that say "dude, this sucks don't buy it!" and that's all that raise my hackles and make me see red.

As for the "certain companies" you are referring to, please don't count all of us in that cissy-priss sand box tantrum crowd. I will be the first one to admit when a product goes sour (and I know of at least one I'm most certainly not happy with the result of).

As for PRG, if any person any where feels that the product they buy from us is not up to snuff: drop us an email, post in our online guest book (located on our site), post to a public forum, or write up a review. But do so with professional courtesy and focus so we can correct our glaring mistakes. Since we are currently publishing PDFs, it is much easier for us to make the corrections needed to a product and get it out to our valued customers.
