Yes it was. I'm curious as I don't have the MIC yet, but do they give guidelines as to how they arrived at item pricing? If not, won't it throw a big wrench in custom magic item creation?

This thread is a perfect example... by Nail's cost this belt would be 3600gp at CL 10, but per the MIC it's only 3k gp...why the random 600gp savings? It will lead to much haggling between player/DM methinks.

I will try to remember to check it when I get home, and post the full text.

They did change the magic item pricing guidelines with this book by the way. Common magic items are now cheaper when added to an existing item, if it's the right body slot. I am not sure how that comes into play with this item however.

Belt of Growth (Magic Item Compendium pg. 73)
Price (Item Level): 3000 gp (7th)
Body Slot: Waist
Caster Level: 10th
Aura: Moderate; (DC 20) transmutation
Activation: Standard (command)
Weight: --

This thick brass belt looks like it is riddled with cracks. It bends as though it has been stretched out of shape.

When you activate a belt of growth, you instantly increase in size (as if affected by enlarge person). This effect lasts for 10 minutes or until you command it to end. This ability doesn't stack with any other effect that increases your size.
A belt of growth functions once per day.

Prerequisite: Craft Wonderous Item, enlarge person.
Cost to Create: 1500 gp, 120 XP, 3 days

Die, transformative magic. Die. Die. Die.
What's wrong with a belt of growth?

I understand the polymorph complaint: if I'm an elven bladesinger or a noble knight, I don't want to be spending most of my fights looking like a hag.

But belt of growth sounds cool to me.

AFAIK, the novels mentioned aren't comedy at all.

Well, "at all" might be pushing it. They do incorporate humour on occasion, if that counts :)

But yeah, the revivification isn't intended for comedic effect; it's more worldbuilding. We start with an assumption - psionic communication, teleportation, and raising the dead are not only possible but relatively commonplace. What effects does this have on society?

One of the effects is that occasionally, you'll have someone killed as a warning. When they get raised, they'll know they've upset someone.

Hmm, I guess I just see it as polymorph-lite. I may not be turning into a hag, but turning into a 10-ft tall version of me is still pretty startling.
