... they discovered that wishing for crack had woeful results unless very properly worded.
I'll make a wish that can't backfire. I wish for a turkey sandwich, on rye bread, with lettuce and mustard, and, and I don't want any zombie turkeys, I don't want to turn into a turkey myself, and I don't want any other weird surprises. You got it?

It's a skeletal turkey sandwich. :D

The cost of a wish has already been stated ... miracle would probably be cheaper though - I mean, changing somebody's gender back to their original shouldn't be overly difficult or engaging for the deity. I would not require XP from a caster for that. Well, depends on the deity.

my guy/girl has a huge ego and badmouth religon.
I dont think it would be very RP of me to go to a priest in my time of need.

Ah, then you don't just mean agnostic, you mean actively anti-religious. I agree that it wouldn't make sense from an RP perspective - unless you intend to take your character through a life-changing epiphany.

I suppose you might buy one, but who out there sells a wish? The efreet is a bad example, since he's casting wish for you, which was what was expressly not happening.

and if you cant lose a lvl from casting wish can someone post where thats found in the rules please.

Sure. From Magic Overview - Spell Components in the SRD.

XP Cost (XP)

Some powerful spells entail an experience point cost to you. No spell can restore the XP lost in this manner. You cannot spend so much XP that you lose a level, so you cannot cast the spell unless you have enough XP to spare. However, you may, on gaining enough XP to attain a new level, use those XP for casting a spell rather than keeping them and advancing a level. The XP are treated just like a material component—expended when you cast the spell, whether or not the casting succeeds.
