Here's a magic item I've been wanting to make.

Circlet of Mental Fortitude
--uses helmet/crown slot for items worn
--provides +10 competence bonus for Concentration checks

Going by the guidelines in Tome & Blood and the DMG, the base price is the bonus squared times 20. In this case, 2000 gp. That's the same price as a Cloak of Elvenkind, which provides a +10 competence bonus to Hide.

1. Do you think 2000 gp is a reasonable price for this?

2. Is it too high or too low?

3. What would you set the price at?

2000 gp sounds about right to me. It's a nice item, but not terribly powerful.

2000 gp is fine for this item. It is no more (and no less) obnoxious than Boots/Cloak of Elvenkind.

In fact, there is a psionic item that gives you this. The third eye of concentration (PsyHB, page 135) gives a +10 competence bonus to contentration checks, and costs 2,000gp, so it seems reasonable that a headband or whatever would cost the same. Now, if you allow psionics in your campaign, I would get a third eye instead, so I'd still have my helmet slot, but that may not be an option.
