Pricing: Magical Bonuses -> Nonmagical ones

Perhaps you are approaching the pricing backwards. Why assume that the attributes are slotless?

Start by pricing an innate (as a continuous Su ability) armor bonus that DOES use the bracers slot. In Magic of Incarnum terms, that binds the Arms chakra.

Should that only cost 115% normal? Personally, I don't think so. That sounds like 130% or 140% to me.

Combined with slotless, that would be 230% or 240%. If that seems like too much, maybe don't make the effects spotless.

Alright, let me try to explain this better.

I'm not playing a vow of poverty monk or anything, but at the same time I don't want my character decked out in magical bling when part of his character is "reliance on oneself, not on the tools you weild."

So get rid of the items, period. His vow is making him less effective. Yes, sometimes in-character actions have massive consequences. If a fighter decides "I'm not going to rely on armor anymore" - he doesn't get to say "but I want a natural armor bonus equivalent to my +3 ghost touch platemail".

What you are effectively doing is adding inherent bonuses to your character. Usually this comes from something like a Wish spell. Now, a Wish spell is a 9th level spell that can add +1 to an ability score PER CASTING.

+1 to attack would be the equivalent of two wishes
+1 to AC would be the equivalent of two wishes

If your bonuses cannot be taken away, that's an inherent bonus. As far as I know, a Wish spell is the only way to acquire these permanently.

Prepare to spend a LOT of money paying those high level wizards to repeatedly cast Wish on your behalf.

It is a good thing to desire a character to stand on their own merits, but that is not the way D&D is set up. Like a drug addict, the characters can't operate effectively without their 'fix' of magic. At first it is just a potion, or two, but eventually it is a life threatening addiction. You go out adventuring not for the daring do, but instead to get your next stronger 'fix'.

You wear XXXXX gp or you fall behind the power curve. Other than the oft reviled Forsaker and the VOP, there has not been anything from Wotc. Even the D20 market only has Iron Heroes, though would fit the "reliance on oneself, not on the tools you wield." very well.
