The info on the Whirling Barbarian build has been posted here by Trevor Kidd

Some bits and pieces, can wield a one-handed weapon as an off hand weapon, can shift 2 as a free action 1/round when he bloodies an opponent and enemies he ends next 2 grant CA till the end of his next turn and gains the Whirling lunge encounter power.

Looks fun

Hm. Whirling Lunge isn't as powerful as say, Switch Charge. Having a barbarian in one of my groups, he is a monster at movement and charging.

On the other hand, this guy looks like he'll be able to get away with shifting and getting in and out of combat. The barb in my group has a problem with that - getting surrounded and getting pounded, and not being able to bring the charging.

The Whirling Barb will have fantastic AC (Avenger-level, in fact) if they don't lose Barbarian Agility. I wonder if that's deliberate.

He does realise that barbarians have an at-will that lets them shift 2 squares through foes before attacking and knocking them back a square, right?

One of the new feats will let you use Con for your AC instead of Dex, if you wear Hide Armor. So this means that other Barbarians, with a feat, should be able to compete with the Whirling barb.

Yes, right. He just doesn't do a lot of moving out of trouble. :P

I know about that feat, and I don't particularly care for it. I don't want Barbarians to be able to have high AC, especially not for one feat.

It's cool to see a bit more about this. I played in the DMG2 event and the halfling Barbarian there had this kind of build, and I wasn't entirely sure on what the details for it were. Seems like an interesting twist on the two-weapon build, in that you don't really make attacks with the off-hand weapon, just deal automatic damage with it based on various succesful attacks with the primary weapon.

Obviously, its just a snippet, but the description of this build gave me the feeling that it was more about whittling down a bunch of enemies at the same time as opposed to focusing on one enemy until they died, then charging off to engage the next.

That sounds, to me, more like a controller. At least, controllers seem to wittle large groups of enemies with their area attacks.
