D&D 5E Primeval Thule for D&D 5e is out in PDF!

I played 4e for 2-3 years but dont remember themes... did they come out towards the end of 4e? By then I was playing 13th Age.

Themes were used in the later campaign setting books with great effectiveness. One of the better parts of 4E.

Got this too. Pretty darn sweet. Lots of goodies here. Can't wait to see the other adventures too.

My only problem is I have too many ideas and no clear leader for where I want to start adventuring. I might break out my pdf copy of From Stone to Steel to use with this too.

Yeah the "backgrounds" are much more powerful than PHB backgrounds. They typically grant an ability at 1st, 6th and 10th level. Often a short rest style power, a social bonus, and a world building bonus like at 10th level, one background gets a pirate ship and crew, for example. Another gets a temple and followers, and another gets a legion of up to 100 men or something, I forget now exactly.

It's pretty damn cool. But much higher power than the standard 5e background. They kind of remind me of 2e kits more than 5e backgrounds..?

I wish 5e backgrounds worked like that...

Unlike a few of the others here, I did not receive an e-mail sending me to the pdf version. After waiting a day, on the off chance it had been delayed for some reason, I contacted Sasquatch Games to see what was going on. Within an hour I had received a response and had the download link. I haven't had a chance to read the pdf yet, but I'm certainly beyond impressed.

I am going to be running a Primeval Thule game heavily influenced by the Book of Lost Spells and my personal preference for dark and gritty magic, which this campaign is perfect for. It's a great setting, although lacking a desert based culture, which I have filled in with a home brew version of the mentioned continent of Lemuria.

I am looking for a female player to round out the group, so if you live in the right area and fancy a swords and sorcery game like Conan meets Game of Thrones, then get over to the Meetup website and search for the Basingstoke D&D group and you'll see the Primeval Thule game on the forums and upcoming meetups page.
