D&D 5E Primeval Thule for D&D 5e is out in PDF!

This has already become one of my fave all-time D&D settings, being the huge Robert E. Howard fan that I am. I wish I could find a DM willing to run an online game (not pbp) over Roll20 or even better, Fantasy Grounds.
Somebody did run a Thule game at the last FG con I wonder if somebody is running it next weekend?

I'm salivating over the stuff I'm reading. This PDF has my brain churning out all kinds of story and character ideas. I can't wait to both run in this setting and (hopefully) play in it.

Super excited about this setting, but haven't gotten my PDF link yet?! Posted a comment on the Kickstarter page and sent an email to the contact address at Sasquatch Games on Saturday, but no response to either yet. Anyone know of another option for contacting the folks at Sasquatch? Has there been some announcement from them saying they stepped away for a bit and will continue sending out backer links soon? Based on other comments at the Kickstarter page there seems to be a few others in a similar boat. Any suggestions appreciated!

The 5e version actually has quite a bit that isn't in the Pathfinder/13th Age version of the book. Stats for khopeshes, mace- axes, warspears, and chakrams, an extra Gret Old One, and more. I guess that when they rorganized the material in the book (since this version is for a single system, they didn't have to push all game rule information to he appendix), it freed up a lot of space for them to fill. We re also going to get a Players Companion and a GM Companion and a couple extra adventures on top of the conversions for the adventures included in the Pathfinder/13th Age round. The meat and potatoes of the setting are exactly the same, though, and there are a few editing errors - a typo or two, and extra period after a sentence, inconsistent use of terminology, using the term "subtype," which doesn't exist in 5e, etc. But overall I'm thrilled with the book and I adore the setting.

d8 spear! woot!

I want more spear options, too. There are so many different kinds and so many different ways to use them.

I was a little surprised that the warspear in Thule wasn't versatile, though. Based on (for instance) the Zulu iklwa, it would seem to me to be something that is most often used one-handed, but readily could see two-handed use as well.

(But then, it still bugs me that the trident and spear in 5E are identical, even though the former is a martial weapon. I'm picky about my spears/pole arms.) ;)

Yeah true... probably for balance reasons. Longsword also d8 but can be d10 versatile, spear only d8 but can be thrown.

I'm definitely going to dig out my MonkeyGod From Stone to Steel book for weapons. They've got tons of goodies that would fit so well into the setting.

It says it's too short to be braced for a charge, so I guess it's too short to be wielded effectively in two hands. I was more surprised by the heavy one-handed weapons... I'm not sure yet how I feel about that. I'm not sure I want to expand the full benefits of GWM to sword-and-board, and I'm not sure why a 5-lb. khopesh is heavy and a 10-lb. greatclub isn't. Or why a 4-lb. warspear is heavy but a 4-lb. battleaxe isn't. Seems like it may be a miss from a mechanics perspective.

I doubt I will be bothering with the new weapons. IMO, the ones in the PHB cover these "stylish" additions. A spear is a spear is a spear, AFAIC. Khopesh is just a scimitar. Chakram is a throwing axe. Reskin and move on. I like 5e's tendency to minimize weapon granularity. We don't need 1000 unique weapons all with their own rules and features.

K.I.S.S. works for me.
