If the latter, then is there a path that a teleporting creature takes that intersects a complete sphere?

You're overthinking it. If someone claims a full literal interpretation, it doesn't matter what perfectly reasonable thought process you can create that justifies teleporting through with a spell - if it's a spell, it's blocked. End of story.

Of course, you could always shapechange into something with a teleport (Su), and the literal interpretation would be that prismatic sphere wouldn't hinder it at all . . .
