Instead of having their Con go up and down, I want to use this idea:
Give them a Fort Save bonus equal to half of what their raise in Con would have been.
Give them Temporary Hit Points equal to their character level multiplied by half of what their raise in Con would have been.
This would give them most of the benefits of the raise in Con without actually raising Con. It would also stop Barbarians from killing themselves so damned often, if the healer cannot get to them in time when they are close to ending rage (or suffer a calm emotions spell, etc.).
Has this been tried before? Are there any bugs in the system I should know about?
