Problems with Dragon and Dungeon Subscriptions in Australia

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if anyone else in Australia is having trouble getting their Dungeon and/or Dragon magazine subscriptions.

I subscribed to both magazines sometime in July and everything was going fine. I got my first 2 issues of each magazine on time, (I think the second issue of Dungeon even came early,) and everything was fantastic. (I even didn't mind that much that I missed out on the demo DVD that came free with the retail copies. For some reason my subscription didn't come with one. Oh well, like I said, no biggie.)

Now though I seem to have a slight problem. I haven't received my Dragon or Dungeon subscriptions for well over a month now. The last issues the I received were Dragon #309 and Dungeon #100. I know that Australia normally gets issues a bit later than those in the US but I think that I should have got them by now. Dragon #311 and Dungeon #102 are out in the US and I still haven't received #310 or #101!!

To make matters worse, Dragon #310 and Dungeon #101 are available at my gaming store now. What's the point of getting a subscription if I can just buy them from my FLGS, support them, and get my magazines earlier?

Is anyone else having problems with their subscriptions in Australia? Does anyone know why I haven't got mine yet?

Any ideas for what I should/can do about it? I sent Paizo an e-mail about it a few days ago but from my previous experiences I'm not expecting a reply within the next week. :(

Hi Olaf,

I totally hear where you are coming from. I subscribed at the start of the year and am having the same problems as you.

What makes it worse for me is that I have recently opened a gaming store in Sydney (and online) and can buy the latest edition from them as of last week yet I am still waiting for my subscription copy.

Cheers,
Christian

Hi Olaf,

I am an Aussie in the UK, with exactly the same subscription problems as you. Maybe Piazo do not like Austrlaians. I got my first couple of issues only - did not get the DVD with my subscription copy. I haven't had a subscription issue for a couple of months - I have been buying them from my FLGS - (which is not F, is not L, but is a GS - and is called the Game Shop:))

I emailed the web site where I subscribed, which gave me a paizo email address, when I emailed them, they gave me the address of the UK subscription company. I paid for an airmail sub to piazo and do not expect it to be handed over to another company with no reference of information being sent to me. As an airmail subscription is considerably more expensive, I would expect to be told not only had my sub gone to this UK company that it would be extended now that it is no longer airmail from the US. BTW, that extension should be about 2 years worth given the cost of airmail.

It has now been a week since my last email and over a month since I started this - I guess I now need to 'phone and hassle
them.

Of course this comes after the last UK company had to refund my subscription because of a stuff up when Piazo took over.

In some strange way, knowing that I'm not the only one with a late subscription makes me feel a bit better. (Must be that tall poppy syndrome us Aussies have :D ) At least I know that it's less likely the problem is someone stealing my mail or something weird like that. Hopefully they get their act together soon.

At this rate I'll be dropping my subscription and going back to my FLGS. At least they're reliable. And by supporting them I help keep the small gaming community in Adelaide alive.

I'm not a subscriber, but I did get into the habit of picking them up from my local newsagent. About three months ago their presence on the stands evaporated without a trace.

If it makes you feel better, here in America, I ordered my subscription, sent in my payment, and a month after they cash my check, I got a letter saying their records show I never paid for my subscription and a bill.

I'll be calling them in the morning.

Subscription woes

Hello!

I also have (had?) a problem with my subscription of Dungeon (august issue). I live in Sweden. I mailed my query to the following address:

dungeon@pcspublink.com

I got a reply as soon as the time zones aligned, ie the next day. We'll see if my copy shows up in a few days.

So far they seem to be on the ball with this. At least when it concerns my case.

Another address to try is:

customer.service@paizo.com

Cheers!

M.

Olaf,

I had the same problem in Brisbane (I know it says I live in Singapore... anyone know how to change this?) and got an immediate response from Paizo... except the Dungeon that they sent didn't have the subscriber content (this is now being rectified).

As for the DVD, they didn't have a DVD for the Oz DVD zone (but offered to send one if I wanted it anyway) and so offered to extend the subscription by one month.

I must stress, my emails were responded to immediately. The service was good.

Cheers

I have the exact same problem in Japan. Haven't received Dragon 310 yet but I did receive Dungeon 101 about a week ago. Another friend of mine with a Dungeon subscription in Japan also got his 101 quite late.

Just to let you know the retail version of Dragon in the UK the DVD was Region 1, so you couldn't play it anyway. (Unless you know the hack for changing the Region encoding on your DVD player like I do).
