Prophecies of the Dragon

So, excepting the adventure, what's in the POTD to make it worth $30?

Feats? Magic items? Interesting NPCs (both uber-NPCs, like from the book, and regular NPCs)?

Or should I just pass it by?

Really, it's not worth $30, though it would be if the adventure was better done and had fewer errors (because, well, a full-color, well-done 192-page mega-adventure is probably worth $30 IMO). I'm not going to return my copy, but it's going need reworking to run my players through.

Well there is more nice art in it, but that is probably not worth the $30, but being a pretty big fan I would buy it again if given the choice.

Hrmmm...

1 new monster
New Abilities/skills
New Weaves
Seanchan Background
Several maps
Loads of NPCs
Some great ideas

Damn, even with all of that I cannot justify a $30 tag. Its just too much. Whole sourcebooks twice its length are $30. This is worth $15, maybe $18. No more. My suggestion is to wait until its on sale and then nab it. Its not w/o its uses, but its usage doesnt add up to its cost.

Thats just my opinion though.

And no, there will not be any more WoT books for the game. Thats why theres this site: http://home.mmcable.com/mabinogin/wot.htm

Heh, ;)

Glad to hear you finally got it Dave. Can't wait.

Our friendly postal service delivered my copy to the apartment complex just down the street from me instead of to mine; on Sunday morning someone from their office called me (apparently my phone number was on Amazon's label) and I went over and picked it up. I can understand confusing a hand-written 9 with a 4, but with computer written text? Eek.

I'm glad I can pay most of my bills over the internet; this incident greatly reduced any confidence I had in the postal service. And from now on, I'm making sure that Amazon uses UPS or Fedex for my orders.

I hate the US Postal Service

As I understand it, the last increase in the cost of stamps was to cover the losses caused because of the proliferation of email.

Now, the USPS is supposed to exist as a service to the people. If the people no longer require that service then it should be abolished or at least downsized.

Instead, we pay the government out of our pocket for something we only rarely need.

I love my country, but I HATE my government.

sorry... back to the topic at hand... :o

As I understand it (and I admittedly could be wrong...), the Postal Service hasn't been subsidized in years. The reason they keep upping the price of postage is because they can't run back to the government for a bail-out.

But I'm also glad I can pay most of my bills online (I pay through PayPal, the only thing I can't pay is my car insurance; that's four or five stamps a month I save :) ).

The trucking companies can screw up, too. I had a package that UPS delivered to someplace in the Midwest. Kind of hard to figure out how they confused a computer-printed address label so badly as to miss by about 2000 miles.... (And it's not even a case of "New Mexico" and "Mexico," either, since I live in California....)

Back on topic now. Can we get brief descriptions and/or samples of the weaves, skills, feats, magic items, and so on? :)

There are a couple of Healing weaves which handily don't replace the ones I wrote. The only new feat is the Handler background feat, which is tied to the Seanchan background (it's mostly for trainers of the Seanchan exotic animals). There are a couple of ter'angreal, one of which is very central to the plot.
