"Making people" do anything is a great way to alienate them.

Instead, how about acknowledging that some people are jerks and choosing wisely who you hang around with?

Ah, but you are forgetting the Stockholm Syndrome. So long as he does not abuse them, he has a 1 in 4 chance of converting them. Heck, that is a fantastic take up rate. I think the OP is onto something.

You mean like the Spanish Inquisition? No one expects that at a gaming table -- in a comfy chair, perhaps, but not at a gaming table.
