Protection spells and Charm/Dominate

Just noticed this when reading the Protection from Evil description:

the barrier blocks any attempt to exercise mental control over the creature

... then goes on about a vampires domination ability as an example.

So the Protection spells protect you against the suggestion/charm/dominate spells as well? Seems to be the case. I never knew it was that easy. As a DM I HATE charm monster. Not any more. Hehe.

one caveat. The spell only stops the creature from being ionfluenced temporarily.

PHB. p.240 3rd paragraph of the spell description:

The protection does not prevent a vampire's domination itself, but it prevents the vampire from mentally commanding the protected creature. If the protection from evil effect ends before the domination effect does the vampire would then be able to mentally command the controlled creature.

So it is easy but only for a while. Better make sure you kill the baddie before the spell wears off.
