I think it would be great if the judges could post a what they'll be looking for so we can write to them. Of course, I understand if they don't do this. But just maybe things like which is more important to you implementation or idea, creative picture usage or good picture description?

See, I find it hard to do this. It's almost impossible to generalize about such things, and judging for me is more instinct than running down a checklist and ticking things off.

I'll admit that I favor a solid, well told or constructed story or scenario over something that makes brilliant use of the pictures but doens't really hold together well, but that's just me.

Beyond that, I figure you're best bet's to read through the critiques of the last contest. It's probably the closest you'll get to a rough idea of how judging comes down

Hard to answer. In the last contest it seemed to me that Clay was the picture usage judge, Maldur was the gut reaction judge, and Arwink was the critic.

I have no preference between stories and scenarios. If you offer me a choice of which to write, it'll be a story, but I would weigh each equally as a judge. I'm pretty critical of story/scenario construction, but we have arwink for that, so I plan to follow Clay's precedent and judge mostly based on picture usage.

Likewise. Yea, Sniktch, if you can avoid it, do. I only went there once, by accident and I still try and purge those memories from my mind. I've never been in a war, but I can understand now why some folks never quite recover from that sort of tramatic imagery. I have no earthly idea why anyone who is sane would want to put up a site composed of pictures like that.... The words, "horrific" and "inhumane" do not do it justice...
