Pseudo Dragon attacking from master's square?

A character has an improved familiar: a pseudo dragon. The thing is tiny, but has a 5ft reach due to it's tail. So how is one supposed to adjucate combat with this thing attacking while riding around on the master (meanwhile, the master is casting spells and bashing stuff with weapons)?

Does the fact that it's a familiar matter at all? I hope so, otherwise every PC is going to hire a gang of pixies to ride around on them and help with fights

If it's attacking, it should not enjoy total cover from it's foes -I'd rule that it only benefits as if the master were a 3.0 tower shield - as much cover as you GIVE, you GET. ^_^

And yes, the fact that it's a familiar DOES, IMO, make a diference. Anyone trying this trick with a NON-familiar, would find both themself and the smallfry hindered in combat, as if both were "squeezed".
