Psi-Crystal Level Abilities

If I'm reading this correctly {and I may not be}, you only have to have 1 manifester level (and the feat) to create a psi-crystal. However, the level dependent abilities of the psi-crystal are dependant on psionic class level not manifester levels.

So if you take say 1 level of Psychic Warrior (or three if you want the Containment feat} and the rest are Soulknife and Pyrokineticist, you would add together the levels of all three classed to determine your psi-crystal's abilities. And you could also take the Improved Psi-Crystal feat for more personality fragments.

Have I got that correct?

Also note that since ML is not the factor, that all psionic PrC levels count, even in classes that only grant 5/10 Manifester Levels (such as crappy Metamind).

So a Cerebremancer of 16th level would be a 13th level for purposes of the psicrystal?

Assuming the character is a 10 cerbremancer/3 psion/3 wizard, yes.

If it was using a psionic manifesting class or an arcane casting class with a poorer progressin it would be different (like a psychic warrior or sorcerer).

And a psion 1 / soulknife 5 / warmind 10 / metamind 4 (assuming that's a legal character...) would be 20th level for psicrystal abilities... even though his ML is 3 for psion and 10 for warmind

Most folks still think it's built off psion level or manifester level, when in actuality, it's just based on psionic class levels period.

I was working it for my Kalashstar psion/soulknife. All levels counted for psicrystal abilities.
