D&D 5E (2014) Psion Hit Dice

Should the Psion be a D6 like the Sorcerer/Wizard or a D8? like other casters

What are your thoughts?

What do you think they will eventually be if officially released?

I'm leaning towards preferring the D6 myself but think if officially released they would probably make them a d8 because Athas is playing D&D on hard mode.

D6, D8 or other.... ?

Everyone and their mother has a d8 hit die, get some more d6 in the mix!

Away from Athas I think a d6 would be fine.

In Athas. Ooof! now that would make for a very nail-biting level 1.

Depending on what other classes it is like worst-case make a general rule to buffing hit die on athas.

what are your ideas for sub classes and party role?

Wizards and sorcerers are d6, I don’t imagine they’ll design 5e Darksun such that wizards and sorcerers aren’t viable.

Agreed. I was actually more thinking that Psions might not get access to things like mage armour and the shield spell etc.

The size of the hit die is reflective of the strength of the 'magic' in question for casters in D&D. The more powerful the psionic powers are the lower the hit die they'll get. So the real question, I think, is how awesome do you want psionic powers to be? My choice would be that they should be pretty boss and in line with a d6 HD. Just my two cents.
