psionic fist duration

i have to admit feeling like a slight ignoramus asking this question, but the SRD is ambiguous, and my rule books are on another continent at the moment:

how long does the extra damage effect for "psionic fist" last? is it purely the first attack made after expending your psionic focus or does it apply to all attacks made that round? my gut says "only the first attack. after that, your psionic focus is expended and all other attacks cannot benefit from it." but, sometimes what the rules don't say is equally important.

to refresh everyone's memory:

PSIONIC FIST [PSIONIC]
You can charge your unarmed strike or natural weapon with additional damage potential.

Prerequisite: Str 13.

Benefit: To use this feat, you must expend your psionic focus. Your unarmed strike or attack with a natural weapon deals an extra 2d6 points of damage.

You must decide whether or not to use this feat prior to making an attack. If your attack misses, you still expend your psionic focus.

Add Psionic Weapon on top of this and you can do some major damage. Of course you'd need a way to drop a Psionic Focus twice before you attack (ie Psionic Meditation + Hustle)

You can expend your psicrystal's focus, if you have the Focused Psicrystal (iirc) feat in one attack, then spend your own focus on the next. But I don't recall if you can spend two foci in a single action...

The wording is similar to the stunning fist feat; it also says that you must use the feat before making an attack. "Before" or "prior" don´t set a time limit, so it´s legal to declare you use psionic fist or stunning fist one round, minute or day before making the actual attack.

Unless you understand/believe that "before" or "prior" is referring to "just before rolling the die", as I do.
