Psionic Monk

First Post
Was wondering if any one has any experience of the Psionic Monk - in psionic book,
a player wants to tke it as a prc, there are no other psion's in the party, and I dont want to allow him some cheesy broken stuff that might impact on the game

Looking at some of the power feat combo's d10(fist)+2d6(feat)+2d6(power) at relatively low level seems to really boost a monk's combat abilities.

Wondered if people have played or DM'd and have some thoughts

Do you mean the Fist of Zuoken?

I guess the power level is fairly relative. The monk in question wouldn't have the same level of power as a psychic warrior (though he'd be a lot faster!). Most of the power comes from the versitility of the psychic warrior powers.

Yes, sometimes the monk's attacks can be very powerful. But only at the beginning of combat. It takes time (to refocus psionically) to set up psionic fist.

If you have Hyperconscious, the character could take the Lucid Cenobite class in there. I like its flavour a lot, but I think it would be slightly more powerful thn a fist of Zuoken overall.

The SRD has the Psionic Fist, which could be meant here.

I don't really see much of a problem with that class, looks fairly reasonable.

It's called Fist of Zuoken in the Expanded Psionics Handbook, but Psionic Fist in the SRD.

Remember the Psionic Fist feat requires that one expend their psionic focus, meaning they can only do it once every other round (or once per round with another feat). Compare this to a Fighter swinging a greatsword more than once per round (after 6th level anyways) without spending any feats.

I'd be highly surprised if the party's monk ever outshone a committed warrior (or Rogue!) class in damage-dealing, even with Psionic Fist.
