No, I think augmentation is fine, I think the psion class and some other specifics in the XPH are overpowered, but not because augmentation, I accept it as part of the whole, which gives them more flexibility with their individual powers, but also comes with a cost, because scaling is not for free. In fact, I think spells and powers (including scaling and augmentation) are about equal mostly (some exceptions exist, of course). :)
