They've actually confirmed otherwise. Player's Handbook II will feature Arcane, Divine, and Primal classes.

Ooh! Shiny!! Are you going to include any new races? From what little I can read on the website it doesn't look like you are creating a psion class, is that right?

I'll buy it but you might not want to show your hand before the rerelease of the GSL as WotC's attorneys are likely to write something in the document to prevent you from publishing psionics rules before they do.

Our intentions are to start small with a release called Phrenic Shards in which we explore how some choose to meld their internal phrenic potential into "shards", metaphysical manifestations. An example is the Weapon Shard, a malleable piece of phrenic energy capable of becoming nearly any kind of weapon.

If the first few releases are successful, we'll likely turn towards exploring more 4E ideas. Feel free to look around the forums, where we discuss potential future releases.

I'll also note that we're not making rules for "psionics", but the Phrenic power source. Seems we're not excluded from creating our own power sources, which is a nice saving grace.

I just have to ask about the name though. "Phrenic power"? As in "power coming from the lumps on your head"? (Yes, I'm aware of the Greek root, but the more recent usage is a bit difficult to ignore).
