PSP vs NDS

I haven't played them myself, but I've heard nothing but good things about the Advance Wars (both for the GBA and the DS - IIRC, the DS version is a port/upgrade of the GBA version, but I'm not 100% sure) - turn based strategy/tactical games. The art style is certainly Japanese, but it's not the overdone, horrifically deformed cutesy cartoony style.

I'm not sure where it would fit on your list of preferred game types, but Trauma Center: Under the Knife is a thing of beauty. I've played the Wii version, but the original DS version gets nothing but praise (well, and curses at its level of difficulty...) The only thing more fun than performing surgery on someone is performing *bad* surgery!

The gf got me a DS as an anniversary present. Picked up PuzzleQuest and man, is it fun. Unfortunately, I'm convinced the computer cheats, so I'm sort of plodding along through the campaign in order to eventually get to the multiplayer game. I think I'll pick up Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow next.

Was at the store today and checked out what games they have... definitely looks like the PSP has more stuff I might like. :)

Well it's not like the PSP doesn't have games on it. Really the question is, what games do you want to play? Here are the big games I can think of for each system:

PSP
GTA: Vice City Stories
GTA: Liberty City Stories
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Daxter
Lumines
Hot Shots Golf
Field Commander
Burnout Legends
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony
Killzone Liberation
Mega Man Powered Up
Syphon Filter
Tekken Dark Ressurection
Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins
Metal Gear Acid 1 & 2
Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth
(coming this year)
God of War: Chains of Olympus
Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles (Rondo of Blood & Symphony of the Night)
Final Fanasty: Anniversary Edition
Silent Hill Origins

DS
Mario Kart DS
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
New Super Mario Bros.
Metroid Prime Hunters
Trauma Center
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney series (two released so far, third coming this year)
Advance Wars DS
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
Brain Age
Nintendogs
Meteos
Animal Crossing: Wild World
Elite Beat Agents
Lunar Knights
Hotel Dusk
Pokemon
Final Fantasy III
(coming this year)
Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hour Glass

Well, like I said in post 12

http://www.enworld.org/showpost.php?p=3451537&postcount=12

if you look at metacritic (or gamerankings), the PSP actually has a lot more higher rated games than the DS. 86 rated 75% or above on the PSP, 54 on the DS (and that's counting the 4 Nintendogs games separately).

I think the perception that the DS has more games comes from how the DS gets a lot of stuff from Nintendo (and Squenix), while Sony hasn't really done much themselves for the PSP, relying more on 3rd parties, and when Sony does use some of their brands, they often farm it out to an outside developer (like with God of War PSP). Though when they do put out a really good game they make themselves, like Syphon Filter or Loco Roco, it flops. So I don't know.
