Ptolus: Adventures
PT8: A 37-page illustrated sourcebook by Monte Cook

This book presents a series of exciting linked adventures that take place in the streets of Ptolus to get your campaign started. These short scenarios are designed to introduce players and player characters to the ins and outs of the city. Characters of 1st or 2nd level who start with these adventures can reasonably expect to be 3rd or even 4th level when they complete them all.

The adventures presented here are episodic, but they are designed to be run together, one after another. They involve gangsters, politics, and a conniving dark elf manipulating events—and the PCs—to get what he wants. By the end, the characters will have met some of the movers and shakers in the city and are likely to have made both allies and enemies. The chapter also includes some short, independent “interludes” that can be inserted at almost any time.

This is one in a series of nine Ptolus PDF releases from Malhavoc Press. When used together, they comprise the entirety of the Ptolus print book. Each one is also usable on its own for city-based fantasy d20 roleplaying campaigns.
Peace and smiles :)

I already played "Shilukar's Lair".

It's dungeon crawl containing a few cool ideas (periscope, font, idol, laboratory).
There is "enemies wait in their rooms and pretend they don't hear the sounds of battle next room"-syndrome. But if you ignore this syndrome, 3rd-level PCs will face circa CR10 challenge.

The enemies are amazingly hard for 3rd level PCs, eg. one of them has: hp 60, Atk +11 (2d8+10) and +8 (1d8+3) and bull's str & bear's endurance at will.
I DMed "SL" for 5th level PCs.

The adventure is designed as too difficult, with teh advice for players "admit that the challegne is too much and retreat". Someone can say it's designer mistake, but it has its own purpose - to create long time enemies for the rest of campaign. Everyone can consider "it's worth of playing?" himself.

As always in Ptolus we have good pics, floor plans, and statblocks.

I think WotC and Cook have special rights, because so many people are interested in their every new book, eg. Book of Nine Swords.

I woundn't be happy if small publishers as eg. The Forge Studios spam here.

Jaws is a Ptolus fan as far as I know. This is not a press release from a publisher - it's a fan's post.

Does this post mean I can post my press releases about Urbis into the "General" forum, too? :D

Yawn. That's coming from someone who takes every opportunity to pimp their own setting, even though I'm tired of hearing about it (and regard it as little more than forum spam).

Ptlous, on the other hand, is something I do want to hear about. And guess what? I'll be buying this because Jaws brought it to my attention... thanks Jaws :D

Moderator's Notes
Guys, knock it off. This is not a thread to discuss policies about press releases, or your feelings about other folks' press releases, or any of that. If you've got a problem with board policy on press releases, email a moderator.

This OP is fine; if you want to discuss anything beyond Ptolus: Adventures, do it elsewhere.

I post here when The Forge Studios releases a new Ptolus sketchbook too. I'm just a fan who likes to let others know when a PDF product is out.

Peace and smiles :)

Yeah, that sort of bothered me when I read through the adventure. I know from experience that players aren't usually happy with pre-ordained failure.

Dude, keep doing it. I come here more than I go to Monte's boards in general, and you've become my #1 source of news for new Ptolus releases. I bought the last three or four based on seeing them announced in your threads. Keep it up :).
