Valus (different worlds)
Black Company Campaign Setting (green ronin)

i didnt know nyambe had a sourcebook - is it named 'nyambe'?
Valus - right.
Black Company (The) is already listed.
Nyambe has a sourcebook, but I'm just listing the core setting book (that's its full name). The sourcebook I think is "Ancestral Spirits" or somesuch ?!!

Besides, does 7th Sea actually belong there?
It's more like a stand-alone RPG (it also has its own RPG system, similar to Deadlands or Cthulhu).

Diaglo: is Harn a world fitting the D&D tropes? It is publsihed as "system-neutral", which in my experience means "you can try to play it with D&D rules, but you'll have to bend backwards to explain why there aren't everburning torches around, no teleporation circles, no orcs or goblins, and so on." Do you thing Harn is easily modeled by D&D?

i've used Harn since the 1edADnD dayes. it is easily adaptable to D&D of all editions.

Swashbuckling Adventures brings daring highwaymen, fearsome pirates, and courageous duelists to the d20 System. Designed to work in any campaign, Swashbuckling Adventures features the award-winning setting of 7th Sea, the World of Theah. Everything needed for players and game masters to get started has been included. Features dozens of new character and prestige classes as well as new combat options, rules for dueling, a system for high seas battles, and more! Swashbuckling Adventures will be the definitive book for the swashbuckling genre in the d20 System
It sounds like a bunch of PrCs, feats, and a few extra rules. Or are the changes more extensive?

Freeport (Green Ronin) (? Is one city a setting ?)

im dont own any freeport stuff, but im fairly certain theres a series of books that define and develop the region. heck, if u plan on counting the world's largest dungeon as a campaign setting, freeport should definitely be included.

im not sure i like my suggest to include freeport because you'll open the can of worms to include bluffside, maybe lankhmar...actually, lankhmar should be on your list. erm, it's not 3.5 though.

Now a better question is "which ones are successful?"

based on absolutely no scientific or sale evidence, and only judging by the boards, i submit (in no order):

first tier
greyhawk
eberron
forgotten realms
midnight

second tier
scarred lands
kingdoms of kalamar

"cult" tier
nyambe
valus
oathbound

"shows potential" tier
black company
thieves world

i invented the tomahawk chop,
W.P.

EDIT: Add Slavelords of Cydonia (bad axe games) to the master list? its a self-contained world as far as i know, but its for grim tales (so may not meet the 3.5 restriction).

I dunno; it seems pretty arbitrary to exclude Rokugan like that. Besides, I don't think you really need Oriental Adventures; the alternate classes, races and magic system is included right there in the Rokugan book. I think you could get by just fine without OA.

If you're gonna list Freeport, you might as well add Bluffside.

I didn't know Harn supported d20? Or is it just rules independent?

They've supported d20 for quite some time. Columbia Games even has a Harn d20 download on their website.

As for 7th Sea, the setting is the world of Theah, which is also the setting for Swashbuckling Adventures d20. SA is to the 7th Sea RPG as Oriential Adventures is for the Legend of the Five Rings RPG. Which reminds me, Rokugan (from L5R) should be on the list, also.

Cheers,
Cam
