Publisher's Big Projects?

I debated not posting since my sig is pretty all-inclusive. But,

Updates:
  • Character Customization -> 3.5
  • Joe's Book of Enchantment -> Enchantment: Mundane and Mysterious.
In Progress:
  • Deadly Encounters: Orc Stew -> A low-production value, hack/slash, short encounter that scales from 6-16th level. (Although info for groups that insist on talking to monsters is also provided :) )
  • Tree of Knowledge -> An adventure for 10-12th level characters.
Design Stage:
  • Divination: Mundane and Mysterious (yes, it'll be a line)
  • Setting Customization (rules for variable levels of magic, mystery, etc in a campaign world using CC to rebalance the classes)
I hope to have Orc Stew out no later than 1st week of October. Tree of Knowledge and E:M&M should be ready for editing by mid-late October. I cannot even guess when anything else will be ready.

This is as good a place as any, I suppose... here's an update from S.T. Cooley Publishing (http://www.cooleys.org/publishing/ )... one of the little PDF guys...

CURRENTLY AVAILABLE PRODUCTS:

The Enchiridion of Mystic Music is about 98% done with its 3.5e overhaul. It has been beefed up to 144 pages (that's a near-doubling in size since the last revision at 74 pages), and includes new, never-before-seen-in-any-product original artwork. Hopefully this will be done by the end of the week or so. :)

The Enchiridion of Treasures and Objects d'Art is already 3.5e compliant - on the (lucky?) coincidence that none of the changes made in 3.5e have bearing on things in the book, though a minor clean-up and expansion will likely be made at some point.

The Enchiridion of Elided Enduements of the Expanse was released as dual 3e and 3.5e compliant. Obviously, updating this one is down on the list a little ways. ;)

UPCOMING PRODUCTS:
Buy the Numbers (listed on my products page as "Direct EXPenditure") is a point-buy alternative to the class-and-level system currently used in the SRD's system. Note that because it deals with character advancement, this will be an OGL-only product, and will mostly deal with abilities already extant in the SRD. What this means is that you will not see a lot of "new material" in terms of "new abilities" for your character. What it *will* do is explain how to "build" a character. In other words, you will see Sneak Attacks and Turning of Undead and a discussion on how to "scale" the cost in terms of directly "spending XP on abilities" rather than waiting to level and picking a class with a pre-determined set of abilities. All of the mathematical formulae underlying this project is done, it's now a matter of turning the formulae into more or less comprehensible English. This system was designed to better mimic the real world where you might have an ancient master craftsman with the equivalent of 20 Ranks in Craft but just a few hit points (not currently achievable, since he'd need 17 levels of Expert). So you won't want to buy this for the "kewl new abilities" but rather for the underlying system itself (instead of buying things in "level increments," you can "buy" abilities one at a time in smaller packages - as small as one skill rank or skill slot). This means that your character can improve and gain new abilities or skills after EVERY gaming session - though the gains will not be as dramatic as the gains made when levelling. This also means that the system is not for everybody... if you like the current class-and-level system, you won't have much need for this. This one should easily be out by the end of the year - and hopefully sooner. A close-to-finalized (and this may in fact wind up being the final) cover is available by clicking this link.

The Enchiridion of Eldritch Energies is about 1/3 to 1/4 done, but progress has been slower than I anticipated. I may get it out by the end of the year, but I'm not hopeful. First quarter 2004 is probably more realistic. I'd rather err on the side of caution, given my usual missing of deadlines I set. ;)

The Enchiridion of Planar Powers is still on the back burner, pending the release of the above two products. The expansion of the SRD to include planar stuff helps this work tremendously. It may be merged with the Enchiridion of Eldritch Energies (my work on the above already suggests that this is somewhat likely, given the somewhat intertwined nature of energies and the planes). If they do merge, it will push the combined release date further back. :(

The Fantasy Quest Series, headlined by The Burning Sage's Demesne - okay, right now the Burning Sage's Demesne IS the line LOL - will also (hopefully) be seeing a major expansion in 2004. A series of three to five linked adventure "modules" will be released to expand the Fantasy Quest line. More details on this as they take better shape, but I have high hopes for this one.

So, as you can see, I have quite a bit on my plate that should keep me plenty busy for a while. ;)

I know I'm looking forward to the following:

Mystic Eye Games: I'm glad that the guys are over here all the time as I didn't see the Deep on the webpage or the next book by Ed. The Deep should be great, especially if I can combine it with some of the other books on this massive list. Underwater Doom Striders? Any word on when Librum Equitis 2 is hitting the stands in book form? Updated to 3.5? Will Mystic Warriors be updated to 3.5 or foled into the revised Hunt book in '04? How's Fall of Man coming along? Is that 3.5 or d20 Modern or strict OGL now?

Ok...
The Deep will be out in stores in October, Fall of Man OGL and late November, Pantheons and Pagan Faiths, November as well. Player's Advantage: Rogue will be out late October, and The Hunt 2004 will be end of first quarter 2004 and we have no plans for Mystic Warriors as a whole book, but expect to see updated info in the HB The Hunt book.
LE2---Have to check with Doug on that one...Ed already discussed OWP new book.

We have some cool announcements coming soon as well.

Phew I am busy!
;)

Maybe I'm getting their books mixed up? I thought Factory was first then Arsenal or... looks at book shelf, yup, Arsenal first then Factory. Ah, the hordes of d20 books confuses me sometimes.

We gotta talk!

You forgot to list our Judges Guild Wilderlands of High Fantasy campaign setting.

Though you mentioned the City State of the Invincible Overlord (available Nov/Dec) the setting starts with the Player's Guide to the Wilderlands which is at the printer now and is available in October. Then there is the huge Wilderlands of High Fantasy Boxed Set early next year. It has 18 HUGE campaign maps detailing the setting in 5 mile hexes with over 3000 locations.

visit our Judges Guild website at www.judgesguild.com or the Necromancer Games home page www.necromancergames.com

In fact, you can see a killer ad for the Boxed Set, the cover logo for the City State and some teaser downloads from the Player's Guide at the judgesguild.com site.

In looking over The Player's Guide to the Wilderland, "This Player’s Guide includes a huge full color fold-out map and details on the history and background of the Wilderlands. At your fingertips is information on the important cities and geographical features of the Wilderlands as well as information on the gods and monsters unique to the setting. The Player’s Guide also includes details on the City State of the Invincible Overlord, allowing you to run a campaign set in the Wilderlands right away!"

I didn't see a page count or price there.

I confuse that I was confusing this with the Wilderlands of High Fantasy. Too much Wilderlands I tell you!

Player's Guide to the Wilderlands
128 pages (plus the map)
Frank Frazetta cover (different from the Frazetta cover on the Boxed Set)
Full color fold out Player's Map
Price: $23.95
ISBN: 1-58846-092-4
