The following is a proposal, not yet endorsed by the high muckymucks of the ENnies. Please consider and comment.
I'd like to respectfully make a request from those publishers who have been nominated for an ENnie this year. Would you be willing to create a short pdf sample of each nominated product and host that pdf on your site, so that voters who aren't familiar with your product can have at least a chance to get acquainted with it.
It might not affect their voting now, but people are curious about why all these books have been nominated; they want to see what all the fuss is about. You're doing yourselves a disservice if you don't give them a chance to find out. Also, if you end up losing by just a few votes, you'll always wonder if you would have done better if more people had access to your product.
I mean, seriously, it takes like a minute to get a few pages out of a pdf with Acrobat. I'm not sure how hard it is with other layout software, but it shouldn't be hard. Five or ten minutes of work might get you dozens more votes (and some good will of gamers, because we all love swag). Just make sure the sample section is useful to a casual reader.
If you do put up this sort of sample, please contact Dextra or Michael Morris and give them a link, so we can gather all the product samples.
