Publishers, what are you up to?

I know I'm busy with my own projects a lot, so maybe I'm not reading the boards enough, but I remember once upon a time how I'd run across publishers talking about their upcoming projects, and so I was able to keep fairly well informed about what all was out and was coming in the D20 community.

So, publishers, what books and such are you working on? Who all's going to Gen Con, and has a big release planned? What's news in your world?

Since I am working for 2 manufacturer's now (kinda), I'll give you two updates:

Magnificent Egos
Magnificent Egos will be attending Gen Con Indy and may be found at booth #1229. Additionally, Magnificent Egos will be providing prize support in the form of vouchers for free miniatures to several major publishers who are running RPG events at the convention. These publishers include Alderac Entertainment Group (otherwise known as AEG), Bastion Press, Eden Studios, Green Ronin, Malhavoc Press, Paizo, and Paradigm Concepts.

Gen Con will also be the launching point of new lines that tie into “Monte Cook Presents Iron Heroes” and the upcoming movie “The Gamers: Dorkness Rising”. In addition, Gen Con will also see the premiere of the licensed Nodwick figure. Magnificent Egos will be hosting cast members from The Gamers, and have a professional sculptor and a professional miniature painter in our booth doing continual demos. We will also be revealing plans for next year.

We will have three exclusive figures that are only available from us at conventions, including our new GenCon ’05 figure: Mulva, The Kobold Strumpet. Magnificent Egos will be offering a Manufacturer’s Award for best Magnificent Egos miniature entered in the painting competitions at the show. Prizes include $150 worth of miniatures, and the honor of claiming the Magnificent Egos Chevalier’s Hat.

Additional Magnificent Egos information is available by contacting screech@magnificentegos.com

Bastion Press
This year, Bastion Press will be sharing a booth at Gen Con with Studio 2 Publishing (booth #1937). Print copies of Wildwood will be available for sale and possibly copies of Lore of the Gods. Bastion is working with Studio 2 on the release of Ed Greenwood's Castlemorn with a likely release date in late September. Castlemorn will be a hardcover with full color artwork. After finishing work on that, Bastion's releases are tentatively set to be Oathbound Player's Guide followed by Book of Curses yet this year. In addition, Bastion will be releasing 3.5 updates to Alchemy & Herbalists in pdf along with pdf releases of Torn Asunder and Into the Black.

This will make me happy. Of all the more generic books Bastion has put out, this book gets more use at my table then all the others. Wildwood is also looking good though I'm not through reading it yet.

We've got two releases planned:

Tell It To My Axe: A supplement in our AEvolutions line in support of Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved dealing with the Order of the Axe written by the Keepers of the Oath and featuring new cover art by Jeremy Mohler.

Shadow Falling: An adventure module for the Dawning Star campaign setting but usable in any d20 sci-fi setting. For character levels 4-6, it features a relic hunt in an alien ruin.

Blue Devil Games will be at booth #1443 IIRC. I'll also be hosting for Indie Press Revolution featuring all the latest titles, including Conspiracy of Shadows Revised, a|State, and (I'm promised) The Mountain Witch, among others.

Well, at the moment, I (personally) am very heavily into RuneQuest design. However, for D20 and Gen Con, we have;

The Wars RPG (should hit just before the show, actually.

Ruins of the Dragon Lord - a complete boxed campaign, taking characters from levels 1-20!

Dawn of Destruction - the long suffering Lone Wolf fans will be happy :)

Battlefront/Incursion - the first two supplements for Wars

Extreme Paranoia - think Actute Paranoia for the new millennium. . .

Paranoia Mandatory Card Game - because we had to.

The Selvache Incident - GM Screen and scenario for Starship Troopers

That is just the next 2-3 weeks!

hmmm...I wonder

Necromancer "might" have a big release at Gencon, wonder what it is?

And, 12 new books in the works (3 at printer through Kenzer) 1 at Troll Lords (Slumbering Tsar) and 6 at White Wolf (City of Bras and Bard's Gate for starters) . Yup, we are busy!

Gallantry Productions is currently coping with a major computer failure that has resulted in a massive amount of data loss. This has, obviously, affected the upcoming issue of MODERNIZED as well as Tesla's Legacy. In regards to MODERNIZED, I will be making a statement about our current status as soon as we've migrated to a working PC.

I checked out the feasability of going to GenCon this year, but it's just too costly for a full-time student with a full-time job at the local Wendy's. With any luck, Gallantry Productions will at least be able to release a new MODERNIZED issue in time to celebrate it's one year anniversary.

Dog Soul is working on our 'Folkloric' d20 settings. We've got The Underhill Court, based on English faerie lore; The Firebird, based on Russian lore; and Kitsunemori, based on Japanese lore coming up. After that we've got Folkloric books inspired by Icelandic , Indian , Chinese, and Nigerian/Yoruban lore. That last book, entitled 'Naija', will be a very abstract setting deriving elements from the Orishas, Santeria, Cuban-American culture, Yoruban culture, and the Catholic Church. :D

In addition we've got a modern setting 'Oak Island Money Pit' coming out in 5 weeks, as well as these projects in the works: a sourcebook detailing mental illness and chemical dependency in pc's, and another 'Urban Legends' book about all your favorite 70's and 80's toys....oh sweet jesus the sea monkeys are getting bigger!!!!

I need a glass of water now.
