Publishers: Why'd you name your company what you did?

Just a curiosity, really..but why did you all select the current name you have for your company? Mine was easy, since it was created on the website I have been running for the past 11 years and everyone knows me from the site.

It was a phrase that came to me late on night while talking to one of closest friends. About thirty minutes after the thought of running my own publishing company came to me late on night while talking to one of my closest friends.

It just felt right, then. And it still does.

Oddly enough our name has very little to do with dogs. Our local gaming group started referring to themselves as the DOGS (Decrepit Old Gamers Society) after we were told by a college student that we were recruiting that we were all too old. Therefore, our local set of house rules became the DOG House Rules and the hence the name of the company.

Ours was simple enough. We started out as a simple website called UK Gamers. So from there we came to UKG Publishing.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure. It has something to do with my players bandying around the idea of a Swiss Pocket Knife Golem during a game, my attempt to come up with such a thing, and eventually filtered into the name of the website I put together a few years ago. When I decided to go into self-publishing, the name came with me.

I went to Duke U. School of Law. (Their team name is the blue devils for those of you who don't happen to know.)

My partner (artist Andrew Hale) named it.

I'm not sure where he came up with the name though I am sure the "B" and the "A" was the seed of the idea.

As for where he ended up, he just has a gamer's goofy sense of humor.

I will say, though, that he got it on the first try. I was coming up dry and asked him for ideas, he nailed it right out of the gate.

I was about to post that although I know where my company name came from, I figure Wulf was "being clever" when he named his.
