D&D 5E (2014) Pure Preference Poll: Class Choice

I am a melee damage dealing guy on characters and fighter has the most flexibility including multi classing to achieve build concept

"I play a cleric because I'm a foodie," has to be the most awesomest, if unexpected, response I've seen.

I had this NPC in a story I once half-wrote. It sort of sums up the philosophy:

It was not long after noon, so the high priest would almost certainly be at lunch for at least the next hour; he believed that good food and drink, and plenty of it, kept a man on the right moral path whereas hunger and thirst were the causes of much of the evil in the world.

Now if I split each class into it's subclasses, that'd look a lot different.

I felt the need to split out fighter sub-classes, myself.

You just had to go and limit it to 5e classes, didn't you? (maybe just as well, if only to avoid the 463rd argument about Warlords...)

So when you see my vote of "Wizard" you'll just have to take it as a vote for "Illusionist".

That said, I scoff at your arbitrary limits.......

Tier 1: Preferred play choices
Illusionist, Nature Cleric (Druid), Fighter

Tier 2: Will happily play
Ranger (1e version only), Cleric, Wizard, Rogue (Assassin), Cavalier (or other non-Paladin knight class), Necromancer (in games that have such)

Tier 3: I suppose someone has to play it
Bard, Sorcerer, Rogue (Thief)

Tier 4: Hold my nose
Paladin

Tier 5: Nah
Monk, Barbarian (shouldn't even be a class), Warlock, Ranger (2e and later versions)
