Kick'em While Their Down

I've always thought it was very odd that jumping up and down like a fool due to Irresistable Dance causes AoOs, but standing completely still (and presumably even more vulnerable) doesn't.

It's the difference between moving erratically and standing ready to defend yourself. You can react to an attack better if you're NOT moving than if you're spazzing out.

How do you react to an attack better when paralyzed then while jumping around errattically?

AoOs occur because your attention drops and your defenses suffer. If that's not being paralyzed I don't know what is.

I don't think the interaction between AoO and paralysis makes any sense as it stands, to be honest. It just isn't really covered.
Yeah, I agree. I just started the thread because my brain was exploring a funny little corner case. :)

But when you're paralyzed, you're standing ready to defend yourself, and you keep standing, ready to defend yourself but never actually doing it, as they chop you into hamburger.

Realistically, paralysis/unconsciousness/otherwise helplessness should draw the full complement of AoOs from someone with Combat Reflexes.
