Hi Gamers!
You might ask yourself what is the monster update subscription and how does it work?
I know that is one of the first things my co-writer Stefen Styrsky asked. So let me explain it to you this way.
Like many of you, I’m now playing the Pathfinder ® Roleplaying Game and I want to use my favourite monster from book X but it is in an old book and I would have to do a bunch of conversions. Sigh.
The best way to get around this problem is to not do the conversions yourself but to have Stefen and I do it for you.
What do I get for my $5 bucks?
You get to select 5 monsters from Open Game Content sources for Stefen and I to update to the Pathfinder ® Roleplaying Game. They will be converted, statblock checked, edited and sent to you in
PDF.
Is that it?
No. You also get any other monsters requested by others for conversion. I will send out PDFs of all the converted monsters to subscribers once a month.
Wait? Are you saying that if 30 people sign up I’m going to receive 150 monsters?
Yes.
And if 50 people sign up, I’m going to receive 250 monsters?
Yes.
And if 100 people sign up, I’m going to receive 500 monsters?
No. I think Stefen and I need to set a limit on the number of subscribers. I believe that limit will be 50, so if you want in you will need to act fast.
What if I’m the only person that signs up for this fantastic offer?
I will personally convert 25 of your favourite Open Game Content monsters and publish it in PDF for you (for free) and others to buy. I think 25 monsters for $5 is an excellent offer.
Why the 1 year timetable?
Ultimately all projects need an endpoint. In one year, Stefen and I will collect all the monsters into a monster book release. That book will go on sale at Rpgnow and 50% of its proceeds will go to buying art for each of the monsters. You will receive updates as art is added to the book.
Are you crazy?
I have been told that by a couple people I have shown this proposal to, but that should not prevent you from taking advantage of this offer before I become too lucid.
Are there any limits on the monsters?
They must be from an Open Game Content source that allows for them to be used. I also limit (due to my own sanity) that each subscriber can request only one true dragon.
Is there a bonus for signing up before September 1st?
Absolutely, you can have 7 monsters.
Where can I find the list of monsters already selected for inclusion in the Monster Update Subscription?
You can check out this dedicated page on the Grand OGL Wiki site:
