Potential Spin offs?

Xander: This Old School - The Slayer has moved on, the demons are all vanquished and the Hellmouth is closed for good, but who's gonna clean up this mess? Follow along each week as the "Heart of the Scoobs" shows you some quick and easy methods to reduce residual, spontaneous bleeding in drywall, patch trim and wainscoating with leftover stakes, and shore up those floors with whatever tombstones cannot be identified and returned to their proper gravesites. The first season's guests will inclide Bob Vila, Tim Allen and Pat Harrington Jr. as Duane Schneider the High School Custodian.

Don't forget Debbie Travis and the cast of Trading Spaces!

I don't know if you all have seen this but I spotted it on the CNN page.

Buffy Story
Read it from another source. Somehow I'm not surprised. Seven years/seasons is the average lifespan of a very successful TV series these days. And SMG is the kind of person who wants to move on to other project like movies.

Of course how will they end the series? That's what I want to know. :p

I had thought this was a foregone conclusion before the start of the season. How else could they plan out the episodes without knowing whether or not the Title Star was going to be under contract?

It does happens, remember? Well, maybe not the title star, but the star in general. Happened with Duchovney on X-Files and Stewart on TNG...

Knew about Duchovney, didn't know about Stewart. I suppose they always have to move ahead based on some assumptions, and keep some contingency plans in mind. Heck, look at what happen with Witchblade, and that wasn't even a matter of contractual considerations.

Joss tends to "wrap up" his shows at the end of a season, rather than leave a cliffhanger. So, he could plan for some sort of wrap-up, and then the current production would not worry so much if Ms. Gellar were going to be around next season.

Especially when they've played the death trick twice already with Buffy. It's lost it's punch, so they'd be unlikely to kill her again to end the season, or the series.

Yeah, the wonderful world of TV contract talks. :)

I'm glad you understood what I meant. I reread my post just now and it looks like I wasn't even paying attention to what I was typing.... heheh

But, yeah. Stewart had no contract at the end of the ep where he became Locutus. They were going to kill him off but changed it when he resigned. Good call on all accounts.
