Q. Rogue/Fighter Nudity?

Apparently, Americans' "hard and fast" (no pun intended) criteria for pornography is "are the nipples visible?" The absurdity (or common sense) of this question is not something worth debating here.
A year or two ago here in the San Francisco Bay Area they put up a bunch of billboards about breast cancer awareness.

It has a picture of a woman who had had a full mastectomy (sp?) and thus no longer had breasts being shown topless.

Very appropriate to the subject matter.

They were pulled down by city government before the first day was done.

A bunch of those 'mid western imports' that came in with dot-com boom went up in arms protesting sexual obscenity or something...

Americans are absurd sometimes. The same day coming back from lunch I passed an Ad about getting checked for Aids that had two nearly nude men 'getting down to business' depicted on it. That billboard stayed up for a month or two if I recall correctly. Much more sexual, but no actual nudity.

I've no issues with the art in the Mongoose books. It all seems relevant to the subject (unlike the cheese on the Avalanche covers which was always mis-drawn and not representative of the nature of the book).

I ought to get Fahla published...
Being a 'classical setting', it would likely have a lot of full male and female nudes in casual settings like bath houses, slave auctions, religious events, sailing, athletics, gladiatorial, and so on.

I personally have no problem with the art Mongoose has in their books. My only concern is that our enemies could use it as fuel against us.
No matter what you do 'the enemy' will find feul to use against you.

The simple fact of the matter is that opposition has a fundamental problem with the use of the human imagination.

With this crowd you will never have any credibility as long as you persist in allowing people to use their imaginations freely.

There's nothing you can do to change their minds. You're only choices are to accept that there is 'an enemy' and live with it; or give up and get out of the hobby.

Nude art has as much place in fantasy as clothed art. When the subject matter the image is trying to convey fits one choice or the other that is the proper choice to go for. In a mature world that would be the end of the discussion.

Nude art in fantasy is fine, so long as it's actually necessary to do the subject justice. Drawing Judge Dredd in the buff is a bad idea because it's not necessary to do Dredd justice. Drawing a tribe of rain forest hunters in the raw is fine because you'd be silly to draw them any other way. It's all about cognitive dissonance, as I see it.

Well, this is the thread that won't die :)

I should, perhaps, point out that Judge Dredd has already been drawn in the buff (Galen DeMarco story) though this will not necessarily feature in our new rulebook. Well, aside from a couple of new feats we have added. . .
