Quality of WotC and 3rd party D&D books

I really like most of the 3.0/3.5 offerings from KenzerCo and Necromancer Games, and I also have a pretty high opinion of Mongoose.

I've written off most new WotC stuff - I need 853 new prestige classes, 1789480 new spells, and 230823 new feats like I need a hole in the head...

For people who have given up on Mongoose, you need to look at them again. While their stuff from a few years ago was very hit and miss, now adays they have really been putting out great product. They have really impressed me.

Personally, I think most of the 3rd party stuff blows WOTC away.
Heavens yes. Dawnforge and Midnight from Fantasy Flight, most of the Kalamar books from Kenzer, Conan from Mongoose, Iron Kingdoms from Privateer, just about everything from Green Ronin and Ed Cha's work are head & shoulders above the stuff that WotC puts out, by and large. Sure WotC provides full color. So what? Much of their recent stuff has just left me cold.

When I go looking for an unusual monster, a prestige class to fit my setting or a spell that has just the flavor I need, I rarely bother to check WotC's products. I own them, but I find that other than the core books and Unearthed Arcana, I just don't use them. I imagine that by the end of 2005 I will have stopped buying WotC titles completely.

Oh! How much for the WotC hole-in-the-head®? I need to complete my collection...

Is anyone but WotC publishing hardbacks with colour interior art? Love those production values.

See Inner Circle Games. They only have a monster book out, Denizens of Avandu, but the production values of it are top notch. THe monsters happen to be cool, different and highly creative as well.
