[Quasi-OT] Maths/Geography Question

Information I need for the purposes of world building:

Assume the world is a perfect sphere with a circumference of 10,000km.

What is the distance from one fixed point at Latitude 72 degrees, back to that same point, following the parallel around?

72/180*10000 = 4000km, i think.

This is because the circumference of a circle is increasing in a linear fashion, look at this:
2r * (pi) = 2(2r) * (pi) / 2 = 3(2r) * (pi) / 3 = ...

But this is probably wrong because I am da*n tired right now.

Why is it that in Britian/Australia, you guys call it "maths," and in America, we call it "math?"

Well, the long version of the word is plural (mathematics) so it makes sense that the shorter should be as well.

Beyond that, I've got no idea.
