Question about old 2nd ed "Priests" coming back as Prestige Classes.

Is there a product coming out in the near future for classes based on the old Priest class from 2nd ed. for the 3.5?

Has anyone done any work on this kind of thing or is there a site out there with some specialty priest classes for the forgotten realms pantheon? What I'm looking for is a cleric special subclass for Bane but I would like to have one for all of the gods of the realms.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Powers and Pantheons converts a number of the specialty priests of the realms, and presents some new ones. I believe Bane's specialty priests are called Tyrannars, and gain powers relating to leadership.

That said, I don't think P&P is worth the cover price, so if you want to pick it up, I recommend looking for a deal online or trying to find it used.

I think you are talking about Faiths and Pantheons. Powers and Pantheons is a 2nd Edition god/cleric book for the Forgotten Realms that gives you cleric classes for each god. I think Powers and Pantheons is a MUCH better book than Faiths and Pantheons (just for the wealth of role play material).

Faiths & Pantheons (the 3e book) has some specialty priests converted to PrCs. Dragon Magazine has done a bunch as well.

IIRC (I'm at the office), the Dreadmaster PrC in Faiths & Pantheons is for followers of Bane.

Yes, Dreadmaster is for Bane and Doomguide is for Kelemvor. I used to play a SP of Kelemvor in 2e. The 3e Doomguide has a very different flavor, but is workable, and it still has the "flavor" element, which was the main thing for me in 2e. I just don't like the exotic weapon proficiency requirement. i much prefer the good old Scythe. Plus the spell that created one was cool/fun.

I had specialty priests for all of my dieties for my 2E campaign - and I've now updated that for 3E - though that took some adjustment. I just love the concept - I never liked all clerics from all gods being so generic.

I love the concept as well Altalazar. Would you be willing to share your pantheon and specialty priests that you've come up with for your 3e game? I'd love to see it.

I've suggested it elsewhere, but I believe the 'spontaneous divine caster' from Unearthed Arcana would serve well in this respect.

You could either come up with spell lists, or simply let the decisions of the player effectively create the thrust of the priest.

Combine with cloistered cleric, and you have a bunch of options (Standard do it all tough armored cleric, spontaneous standard cleric, cloistered cleric, spontaneous cloistered cleric)
