Question about old 2nd ed "Priests" coming back as Prestige Classes.

In my Aquerra campaign setting I did the same thing. I made a seperate priest class for each power - though some powers only have paladins (and in some cases rangers) - and I even made unique spell lists for each one and unique spell lists and even some alternate powers for paladins of various gods.

Basically what I did was break down the cleric into its various abiltiies and powers, and then replaced abiltiies for those that I think they should have instead and tried to balance them out.

I broke it down as follows:

Starting Armor Proficiency Feats

Allowed Weapons

Turning Undead

Basic Divine-Casting

Access to Two Domains

Domain powers

"Trading Out" Spells

In most cast my priests can't trade out for healing spells, rather they trade out for a domain spell that fits a domain based on their ethos.

Thus, priests of the god of the sun trade out for spells of the Sun Domain.

Some priesthoods do not trade out at all.

Is there a product coming out in the near future for classes based on the old Priest class from 2nd ed. for the 3.5?
Not that I know of, I'm hoping though they will some if not more specialty priest prestige classes in the upcoming Player's Guide to Forgotten Realms book (basically a 3.5e companion update of FRCS and related supplements).

Otherwise, there is a regular feature column in Dragon magazine that spotlight FR "Faiths of Faerun."

Where would I find the Chossen of Bane PrC? There is a character in the FRCS that has the class but I haven't seen the actual PrC anywhere.
I'm pretty sure that's a template, not a PrC. It might be explained by Fzoul's entry (since he's the only example), or possibly in Lords of Darkness.

It is a template, and it appears in Faiths & Pantheons, pg. 213.

Is anyone interested in homebrew PrCs based on the 2e specialty priests? I've been working on one for the Holy Strategist of the Red Knight over the past few days, and since it is my first attempt to design one, I could really use some feedback.

HOLY STRATEGIST

Holy Strategists are the elite commanders of the Red Fellowship, masters of combat strategy and the art of leadership. The Holy Strategist commands a view of the entire battlefield, exploiting weaknesses in the enemy’s position, improvising tactics according to the flow of the battle, and directing his troops to victory. So impressive is their reputation that armies outnumbering their foes three to one have been known to surrender upon learning that a Holy Strategist leads the opposing force.

Hit Die: d8.

REQUIREMENTS

To qualify to become a Holy Strategist (HoS), a character must fulfull all the following criteria.

Alignment: Any lawful.
Base Attack Bonus: +5
Skills: Diplomacy or Intimidate 5 ranks, Knowledge (architecture and
engineering) 5 ranks, Knowledge (history) 5 ranks.
Feats: Leadership, Widen Spell.
Spells: Ability to cast 4th level divine spells. Clerics seeking to become Holy Strategists must have access to the War domain.
Patron: Red Knight.
Special: Must have commanded a victorious unit in a large-scale battle.

CLASS SKILLS

The Holy Strategist’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Concentration (Con), Craft (Int), Diplomacy (Cha), Gather Information (Cha), Handle Animal (Cha), Heal (Wis), Intimidate (Cha), Knowledge (all) (Int), Profession (Wis), Ride (Dex), Sense Motive (Wis), Spellcraft (Int).

Skill Points at Each Level: 2 + Int modifier.

HOLY STRATEGIST

Base Attack: As cleric
Saves: As cleric
Special:
1st Hard to Fool
2nd Aura of Courage 20 ft.
3rd Improved Leadership
4th Hard to Fool +4
5th Call Mount, Aura of Courage 30 ft.
6th Improved Leadership +4
7th Hard to Fool +6
8th Aura of Courage 40 ft.
9th Improved Leadership +6
10th Spontaneous Divine

CLASS FEATURES

All the following are class features of the Holy Strategist prestige class.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Holy Strategists are proficient in all simple and martial weapons, heavy armor, shields, and tower shields.
Spells per Day: To a Holy Strategist, planning is the essence of victory, and the tools of a successful strategy begin with accurate intelligence. Holy Strategists may cast arcane spells from the divination school as cleric spells of the same level. They gain access to one arcane level per class level.
Holy Strategists may read arcane scrolls from the divination school as wizards.
Hard to Fool (Ex): Holy Strategists are adept at sizing up a situation in an instant and exploiting weaknesses. This makes him especially resistant to illusions cast by enemy spellcasters. At first level Holy Strategists gain the Hard to Fool feat (Dragon #317, +2 on Will saves vs. illusions, +2 to Sense Motive) as a bonus feat. The bonus granted by this feat increases to +4 at 5th level and +6 at 8th level.
Aura of Courage (Su): This ability works exactly like the Paladin ability of the same name. The radius of this aura increases at 4th and 7th level.
Improved Leadership (Ex): Beginning at 3rd level, the Holy Strategist gains the Improved Leadership feat (Dragon #317, +2 to Leadership score) as a bonus feat. This bonus increases to +4 at 6th level and +6 at 9th level. (He still cannot attract a cohort greater than his character level -2.)
Call Mount (Sp): This ability functions exactly like the Paladin ability of the same name. Use the overall character level to determine the abilities of the mount.
Spontaneous Divine: At 10th level the Holy Strategist becomes so attuned to the power of divination magics that he gains the ability to spontaneously cast spells from the divination school by “losing” a prepared spell. He may still spontaneously cast cure or inflict spells in the same manner.

Honestly, in terms of pure FR flavor, I'd go with the 2e Faiths and Avatars book. You can probably pick it up as an ESD fairly cheap. It's not too big of a deal to convert the specialty priests into classes of their own, or just prestige classes.

Dragon magazine did, however, convert a lot of them into prestige classes in past issues.

I love the concept as well Altalazar. Would you be willing to share your pantheon and specialty priests that you've come up with for your 3e game? I'd love to see it.

Though I've said this before, my time sometimes squeezes me - I will make an effort to get that out here. If I recall correctly, I think there are 19 dieties in my pantheon. (Or is it 20?) I have the descriptions and such already setup online, but the class changes for 3E speciality priests are not all online. I can at least get the descriptions up. I will likely post that in the House Rules (since that is essentially what this is) by the weekend.
