I have a question regarding published adventures (particularly Dungeon magazine adventures, but includes the odd d20 module) & the recommended character levels, & how accurate this holds when placed up against a large group of adventures---about 8 characters.
I am going to start GMing a D&D campaign based in my homebrew world. For quite some time, our group had 4 regular players. However, recently, pur group has grown to 6 regulars, & may be 7, with 1 additonal player showing about every other session. So, with 6-8 PCs running around instead of 4, I was wondering if any of the Dungeon adventures I intending on running should be beefed up ahead of time (the 1st 1 will be Gorgoldand's Gauntlet).
Should I bump up the adventures so they'll be twice as hard? (1st lvl. adjusted to 2nd lvl., 2nd lvl. adjusted to 4th lvl., etc., per the recommendations for adapting the adventure)? SHould I increase thing by just 1 level of difficulty instead of doubling it? Should I leave it as is, & just let them less XP per person?
Also, 2 of the 8 are somewhat sporadic---1 shows for a while,& the other one (his younger brother) is only able to show every other time while the older brother is there. I'm already going to assign a pre-gen for the younger brother, but I dunno if I should do the same with the older brother---I'm really tempted to.
Well, any opinions? I'd appreciate any advice you could offer on the matter.
