Question About Quick Draw Feat?

I have a question about the Quick Draw feat.

What makes this feat special? I'm not quite sure if the benefit is any different than a normal action.

Isn't it true that you can move and draw a wapon as part of your move action if your attack bonus is at least +1?

So basically you can move, draw a weapon and attack once.

If it is a 5' step you get to draw and get full round action... right?

What makes Quick Draw worth taking?

A full attack action doesn't allow any time left in a normal round to complete a move equivelent action... only a 5ft. step or a free action (which is what quick draw allows you to do.

Your 1st example of... move and draw and get 1 attack is correct however.

in order to complete the 2nd example you'd need the quickdraw feat.

Basically, a 5' step is not a move action, and thus doesn't allow you to draw a weapon for free, the way taking a move action will.

If you are only taking a 5' step, it's still a MEA to draw your weapon, unless you have quickdraw.

Ok, so it's only really useful for full round attacks.

Can you use it for items other than weapons, like potions, scrolls and wands. How about a shield?

Isn't the prereq. a +1 BAB anyway? If that is the case I'm still not sure what the point of this one is.

If it only lets you draw weapons during the full attack option, I just don't see the point.

Also, during those pesky surprise round you could do this:

Quick Draw a weapon, charge, and attack

but you could not do this:

charge, prepare a weapon while charging, and attack

While it's true that you move while you are charging, a charge is not a "regular move action" (just like a 5ft step is not).

If you want to attack in the surprise round (assuming combat starts with weapons sheathed) then you need quickdraw. Otherwise, you can only move+draw. Note that a charge is specifically not a "regular move"--you don't get a free draw while charging.

If you're a Polearm fighter and want to get your full attacks in (or keep your mobility) then you need Quickdraw. Otherwise you can only draw a sidearm and attack once.

If you're a TWF fighter and want to get in a full attack the same round you draw then you need quickdraw. Actually, all fighters that want to get in a full round attack (all iterative attacks) when they draw will need this feat.

If you like to use Rapid Shot with daggers or other thrown weapons and are not ambidextrous or you have something in your other hand, then you'll need Quickdraw.

If you're an assassin, you'll want Quickdraw. Here's why:

Assassin Player: I walk up to the target.
DM: He nods to you in a friendly way, then goes back to his book.
Assassin Player: I attack!
DM: okay, roll init. It's a surprise round, so you get a partial action.
Assassin: (rolls a 4). Right. I, uh, draw my weapon.
DM: Okay. Surprise round is over. He rolled a 5 for his init. He yells "Help! Guards!", draws a weapon, and attacks.
Assassin: Boy, I sure wish I had Quickdraw. Then I could've drawn and attacked (with Sneak Attack Dam) during the surprise round.

If you use a bow or other two-handed missile weapon, you'll want quickdraw. Then when you're forced into melee you can ready a shield (move-equivalent), draw a weapon (free), and attack all in the same round. Otherwise, you'd have to spend one full round (two move-equivalents) getting ready for melee.

Most DMs will let you Quickdraw scrolls, potions, or pretty much anything else that can be snatched with one hand.

Quickdraw is incredibly useful.

Still curious, if a shield is a weapon can you use this feat for that.

A shield is not a weapon. Readying a shield is a move-equivalent action all by itself, and you can't do it during a move.

I usually let my characters use quick draw to put the weapons away as a free action, but no more than once a round so they can't do this

Player: I use quick draw to change to my bow, I move back five feet, and then fire, and then I redraw my sword so I still have a threatened area

Charge During Surprise Round?

Is this true? Drawing a weapon aside, charging and attacking is a standard action not a partial, right?
