Question about Quoting

First Post
I was just wondering how I can get the quote function to reference the people I'm quoting?

I see some people doing it and some people not, so I was just curious.

To produce the above quote, I clicked the quote button. and then I typed my response underneath the quoted section.

Whan happens when you try to quote my message, for example?

Oh, be sure it is the quote button for the person you are wanting to quote. :) (I have done this)

Ok I see, I've been using the Quote button just above the Reply section and just copying and pasting!

Thank you for setting me straight Eric!

To do a quote without referencing the original poster(which saves a lotta space and lets you divy up the bits you want to quote) cut & paste the text and put [] w/ quote inside before the text and [] w/ /quote inside after the text. Very useful.

Is that how people quote from one thread while posting in another? I've been wanting to quote Roytheodd and Shadowstar in the discussion thread without cluttering up the question thread.
