I'm going to be getting a new computer soon. I use IE for web surfing. Is there anyway I can transfer my list of favorite sites to my new system?

Your Favorites are probably saved in the following location:

"C: \Documents and Settings\Your Name\Favorites\". where Your Name is (IIRC) the name you used to register Windows. (Ignore the space between C: and \ - the board was substituting a smiley)

You should be able to copy these from one computer to the other by pasting in the same folder in your new pc (Your Name may be different depending how you set up Windows).

When I did this a couple years ago, I connected the two computers via a home network long enough to copy over many of my files, including my Favorites. If you prefer, you can instead use a floppy disk to transfer your Favorites.

Go to File|Import and Export and choose to Export Favorites and save them to a file somewhere. Once you get the new computer, go to File|Import and Export and choose to Import Favorites and bring them back in. Easy as pie. :)

Yep, it's really that easy. Usually.

Okay, I'm in much the same boat (new computer, want to move bookmarks) but I use Firefox. Anybody know how to do that?

MozBackup has been discontinued but you can still use it to backup Firefox and Thunderbird.

I have version 1.4 on my laptop and 1.3.2 on my wife's computer because 1.4 freezes up on her system for some reason. Regardless, you can use it to export your stuff to a single file and then import into your new install of Firefox or Thunderbird.
