Question: Can You Delay Taking a Feat?

"Imagine you were running a level 23 game. Now imagine you were insane. But I repeat myself..."
I've seen and played in worse. I guarantee it.
Such things happen when the DM says any D20 and D&D compatible system is allowed, ECL doesn't apply to character level, and enough money and XP is thrown at us where we start drowning in it. Hilarious campaign, though. Definitely not the kind of game for those who want a reasonable game, nor would I want it to be my only campaign that I took part in.

As for the OP ... well, I'm pretty much with Frank on this - if they're not sure what they want to take at the time, they can hold off for a while, but are required to take a feat that they were qualified for at the time, and before the next time they get a feat.

I agree also. I'd always allow this.

I'd also allow it in some other cases, on a case by case basis.

But in some cases it does matter. I didn't see anybody mention it, for example, but a 4th level fighter, if allowed previously to delay taking feats, can get Whirlwind Attack, which would otherwise have to wait for the fighter to hit 6th level.

In some cases, stuff like that doesn't concern me as a DM. In some cases it does.
