Question for my fellow slobs: Do you ever leave the house to prep for games?

You know, I thought about going to the library, but it seemed odd to me to bring my own books there.

All the libraries books here are stamped and since mine are not it should be easy to tell they are mine :D But I wouldn't take them into a bookstore.

Never occurred to me to check if my library has private rooms... Do you need to make appointments to use them or is it first come, first serve?

I never reserve them, but the rooms can be reserved. I've3 never had it where all where occupied yet.

Chances are your books are in less than book store condition. Put book plates in your books too with your name on it.

You should be ok.

Thanks,
Rich

I am a pretty serious neat freak, so... to avoid cluttering up my gaming area, I do most of my gaming prep at work. There I havea nice desk, a computer with internet access (from which I'm writing this post, right now!), and I'm not tempted to leave things lying about (I wouldn't be, anyway, but in this case, there's even more incentive to put everything away neatly so that it will be ready to go when I am).

Same here! Below is my desk...

Ha, not bad! Here's mine

After seeing those desks I'm beginning to feel like an anal retentive neat freak.

I do gaming prep at home because at times I'll have to reference too many different materials to carry with me. Fiction on the other hand, I use the university library to do most of my fiction writing because in my experience it's generally free of students and quiet. BTW I actually had a senior ask where the library was earlier this year, in four and a half years there he'd never once used the library. It was enough to make me wonder why I still try.

Frank and Asmor! CR 20 clean up jobs await you.

Is it sad that when I first read this, I thought you were coming up with an original version of "You owe me a new keyboard [because I laughed so hard I sprayed coffee all over mine]"?

Seriously. >_>

You know, I've seriously never heard of book plates before.

Now I have an urge to make my own, in a classical wood-carving style on some avery full-sheet mailing labels... mmm...

"EX LIBRIS ASMOR"

I like the sound of it.

I used to have a problem keeping things from being too cluttered. I'd just keep cleaning and cleaning every day, but it never got any better. Then I got rid of all my roommates and the problem cleared up. Could be because my 2 year old keeps her stuff cleaner than they did...
