Question: Is it time for a new "A-Team"?

I recently got to thinking: With all the predominant (IMHO) drek, reality shows, poor dramas on TV these days, I have to ask an opinion: Does anyone think a revamping of the "A-Team" TV series, using new actors but staying true to the feel of the original series, would be well-received?

I for one would love to see an hour of TV with nothing but Macho Men and women with guns, blowing the crap out of Drug dealers, multinational terrorists, and kidnappers, and using the latest and greatest technology in the field to overcome superior odds. Wrap it in fascinating character dialog, do a small bit of throwing realism to the wind, and keeping a running and continuous storyline. :)

Would another A-Team sell? Would it bomb? Why?

Bomb.

Action movies have moved on to a more realistic grtty feel. Look at how poor the old style action movies are received in the theaters. All of Arnold S's movies have bombed, Segal's movies have tanked.

People want something more gritty. I loved Arnold when I was growing up, but now I want something different. His new movies are no worse than his old, the problem is, they are exactly the same.

Only Charlie's Angels seemed to keep the same style and made money. I personally refused to see the movie because they made a political statement about guns. I see action movies for entertainment, not for political or religous agenda.

Well, I can only speak for myself, but yeah, I don't mind watching the A-Team revamped for the new millenium. Instead of them being Vietnam Veterans, they are veterans of the Gulf Wars, or have served in the Balkan region during the 1990's.

My preference: a female pilot, a crazy demolitions expert, a criminal faceman/thief (who has a strong connection to the underworld), a heavy weapons expert (a single parent to an estranged teenager), and their handler/leader, now working for the CIA.

Oh gawd.. character backgrounds would just ruin it. The A-Team ain't a soap opera! :)

Well, I gotta admit that I absolutely detested the A-Team back when it was a first-run TV series. I still dislike it in reruns. The concept, though, is cool. I loved the opening narration, which made it sound like the coolest show ever. I love action flicks. Trouble with the A-Team was that it was just so...I dunno how to put it into words. I can't say "stupid" (it was) because I'm the kind of guy who'll watch Bloodsport every single time it's on, and who kept a body count for Commando (man, what a fun movie!). I was so blown away by Hard Target that I showed it to my brother, and made him a convert. So, I can't get my fill of stupid movies. Y'know, my brother and I had a running joke, still do actually, based on The Octagon - we call each other and whisper "Can I do it? Can I kill my own brother?!?" So it's not the stupidity of the A-Team - stupidity is a plus, in my book (I kinda figure somebody might use that as a sig line, but I'll leave it in :) ). It's just that the action was so lackluster; how many times can they have a car defy the laws of physics by hitting another car, somehow use the second car as a ramp, and then the first car spirals through the air like a nicely thrown football? It was the sheer repetitiveness of it all that bugged me.

But, I'd be all for a revamp of the concept.

Guilty as charged. I had the same beefs with it as with the A-Team. But, I love Smokey and the Bandit (the first one, not the really, really lame sequels), which is sort of along the same lines.

I have been watching the A-Team reruns and think they are wonderful!

I don't see anything today having the same magic. I do think it could make for a very good ccomputer game!

come the A-Team was one of the BEST CARTOONS EVER!
In the top five with the SIXTIES Johnny Quest.

Could they make a new one?
No.
The Ateam spoof the following tv themes
Evil government agent trying to get the hero!
Mysterious hero who only be found by the person who needs help.
No one dies but explosions for no purpose.
MacGuvier or Scotty forget who had the show.
