Question on Office 2007

Undoubtedly. Yet the things you can do with Word are not dependent on the version of software but on your imagination. You can make great documents in Office 97 as well, it just might take longer, but the tools and automation are all there.

Anyone used the website builder app in the 2007 suite yet? Wondering what they thought of it. Especially am curious how it imports websites made on older versions of Office. (The Frontpage XP website import into Frontpage 2003 was a disastrous process.)

Also am interested to hear feedback on Access 2007. I have heard that it is "easier" to initially create databases with various wizards and what not.

I will be getting the suite in a few months (a fella from MS is sending me a copy) and am curious about what to expect. Yes, I have read various reviews and such, but end-user feedback is often more helpful to me.

Word is nice. The ribbon bar makes generating tables and font effects easy to use, and allows you to preview different style before you apply them. Haven't had a chance to work with excel as much though. I was just glad vba was still there. ;)

I'm just the opposite. I use Excel for all sorts of things (household budgeting, party treasure lists, statistical analysis, to-do lists, etc.). I really like Excel 2007 and think it's a huge leap forward from 2003 -- possibly the biggest such jump. I haven't had much opportunity to work with Word, though, so haven't noticed it being a big deal.

What's the skinny compared to Office XP? Ease of use and functions, etc?

Tons better. BUT if you are really use to Office XP don't expect to be 100% with 2007 on day one but you should be at full productivity (or higher) within a week. And one hint… the little round Office icon that is in the top left corner… that is a button that gets you to options. Normally takes a few days before people find it.

If your doing lots of calculation intensive work in Excel, then Excel 2007 might give you a big performance boost, because it allows for multi-threaded (re)calculation (uses both cores of your dual core proc).

That's good to hear. I'm a vba programmer at work, and constantly work in Excel. I don't work in Word that much, but found it easy to set up my campaign document in a style that I like, and try different fonts or table styles without having to make an actual change. I have a couple of ideas for some Excel projects, but it's finding the time. ;)
