Question on the Lich template

You hit the nail on the head, actually. I was planning on going with a Paladin Death Knight/Lich. It will be sort of an optional boss though - I want the characters to be able to stand before him and have the option of just walking away and letting him keep doing what he's doing (manipulating the world into a more lawful yet harshly restrictive place). I think it'll create a great moral dilemma for them - bring the fight to him while you've got him here or walk away and maybe fight him another day and let his plans come to fruition. If they do chose to fight him though, I want it to be a truly memorable fight. I just worry that a bunch of undead minions suddenly doing +2d6 damage and the party taking that big amount of fire damage each round might be a bit too rough for them to handle.
