question on the moderation of the warhammer review forum

Not to sound sarcastic, but that's what disagreeing is about I guess. One of Belen's strong points is he can eventually give up on an argument and agree to disagree. He's done it with me a time or two in the past. :)

Eventually? Once or twice? Strong point?

Hell, I've admitted that I'm wrong so often on Internet boards (usually accompanied by an apology for talking bollocks) so many times I've lost count.

To be honest, and I'm picking my words carefully here, if someone said that I can "eventually" give up on an argument and admit that I was wrong, and that this was something I'd done "once or twice", I'd take that as a criticism and perhaps even an insult. :)

Jonny, there's a difference between saying that games that come after other games are informed by those games and saying that they're plagiarized. You claim that Dancey states that Warhammer2 is plagiarized. Someone else is going to say that it's informed by.

So here's my view of the problem. You're looking for a Truth that just doesn't exist. Like most things in the real world, shades of grey exist. Then when you see a shade of grey, you seem to choose either black or white and try to turn it into Truth or Falsehood. These things simply don't exist.

I remember arguments like this happening when Sword of Shannara is compared to Lord of the Rings and people would take offense at the suggestion that it was derivative of Tolkein. Surely, there are many similarities, and LotR is a staple and Brooks surely read LotR at some point. I haven't gotten anyone here saying that Dancey should be hailed as getting credit for Warhammer. Remember that the authors of D&D 3E are really Monte Cook, Jonathon Tweet, and Sean K. Reynolds.

Well just one point of correction: I didn't say that he'd stated it was plagerised, I said that he'd implied that it was plagerised, which is a bit different.

Having said that, if I was writing my comments on the review for the review thread I wouldn't have used a word like plagerised because it is too strong. My purpose in the above post was just trying to point out to Belan where I was coming from, in general.
