This might belong in D&D Rules, but I'm not quite sure....

It has come to my attention that there's some difference between LA and ECL and I'm completely in the dark as to what it is. I'd appreciate it if someone could clarify the issue for me.

Effective Character Level = Monster's HD +Level Adjustment
LA=Level adjustment=MISC modifiers that make the monster abilties equal to that of a PC.


MISC modifiers=high stats, breath weapons, spell like abilties, undead, etc.


Hows' that?
