Questions about a couple of powers..

Miar

First Post
Got my book a few days ago and still going through trying to sort things out and wanted to check my understanding of a couple of things..

1. Rouge's Riposte Strike..

This is an immediate interrupt but also a standard action.. Is this an extra standard action if someone attacks you or does it replace your normal one? (I would assume extra which would give you 2 attacks a round if something attacked you)

2. Warlock's Eldritch Blast

It says you can use this "when a power allows you to make a ranged basic attack".. What is a ranged basic attack? Is this any power that has a range? All the ranged powers already seem to list attack and damage.. I feel like I'm missing something obvious here..

It's a standard action to use the power, but the damage effect is an immediate interrupt whenever the target attacks you.

Ranged basic attacks are described in the combat chapter (page 287). Essentially they are ranged weapon attacks, or any powers that specifically say they count as ranged basic attacks (Magic Missile and Eldritch Blast).
Various powers and abilities require / allow the use of basic attacks, so having a power be a basic attack is pretty nice.

Riposte Strike: The initial attack is a standard action. If something attacks the rogue before the start of his next turn, he gets an immediate interrupt attack (Str vs. AC, 1[W]+Str mod damage). It is two separate actions: the first attack is a standard, and the riposte is an immediate interrupt.

Basic attacks are covered on p. 287 of the PHB. There are some powers that grant other characters a basic attack (look through some of the warlord's powers), and a warlock would be able to use Eldritch Blast in those situations.

Got it.. now that you say that and I reread it it's obvious! arrg :) and the Riposte would not counter the attack unless you managed to kill your opponent with it..
